10 Truths About Losing A Parent

10 Truths About Losing A Parent

1. Their loss will forever be a part of who we are. They were such a huge part of our lives. Their loss becomes a part of our story and shapes the rest of our lives and our journey.

2. We never really "get over it"..we learn to carry the heartache and sadness with us. The love was heavy and so is the grief. We have to find a way to move forward while realizing that doesn't mean we forget them. We learn to live in new ways all while carrying the weight of what's gone.

3. We never get used to them not being here. How could we?

4. Our grief is so unpredictable. One minute we feel at peace with their passing. We understand that losing a parent is an unavoidable part of life that each of us will go through at some point. The next minute we feel such a heavy, empty heartache that no amount of time words could erase.

5. No one in this entire world could ever replace them. Our parents are the ones who know us way before we ever know ourselves. The unconditional love they shower us in, is unmatched and nobody could ever replace that.

6. We are ever prepared to lose them. No matter how old we are. We still always need them. We still want to share our lives with them and even if we know it is coming..it is still so hard to accept.

7. Their loss will changes you in ways you never though it would. The way we see and navigate our new lives without them. We see ourselves change and we are never quite the same as we once were.

8. There will always be that void. In the sad moments and in the happy ones, too. They have always been a part of us and we, a part of them. It feels like a piece of us has gone with them and the emptiness we feel without them never truly disappears.

9. Life will never be the same. Isn't it crazy how much can change when one person in your family passes away? The holidays, the relationships, the things we used to do..everything..everything is different now.

10. We will miss them forever.
